Dr Patrick Rourke, B. Science, B.Dentistry (USYD)

Owner and Principal Dentist

Dr. Patrick Rourke has been practicing Dentistry in Orange since 2008.

Dr Rourke is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists which he achieved in 2019 and places dental implants using a full digital protocol.  Dr Rourke has a focus on restorative and functional dentistry.

Prior to training as a Dentist, Patrick completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at the University of Sydney and had a career in Agribusiness. It is this connection to regional Australia that led to his move to Orange with his wife Sarah in 2008.

Dr. Patrick Rourke has 3 boys of his own and has an excellent manner with children. He has many tools and tricks to help make their visit enjoyable.

Dr Cheng Zhang, B. Nursing, B.Dental Science (CSU)

Senior Associate Dentist

Dr Cheng Zhang was born in China, but grew up in Sydney and has lived in Orange for over ten years. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Science and Bachelor of Nursing degrees from Charles Sturt University.  Dr Zhang won the Dean’s Award for her study of Dentistry in 2010.

Dr Zhang has been an Associate Dentist with Orange Family Dental since 2017.  Her caring and gentle nature ensures her patients are comfortable when they are in the dental chair and she loves helping patients feel confident with their smile.

When she is not treating patients, Dr Zhang enjoys cooking, travelling, hiking and spending time with her family.

To assist with the training of future dentists, Dr Zhang is a Clinical Associate at Charles Sturt University in Orange.

Dr Stephanie Hollis, B. Dental Science (CSU)

Associate Dentist

Dr. Stephanie Hollis joined the Orange Family Dental team in 2021.

Dr. Steph grew up in Lake Macquarie and has now been based in Orange for over 10 years. As a child, Dr. Hollis was a nervous patient, which encouraged her to take a professional interest in the dental world. Dr. Hollis initially studied Oral Hygiene at the University of Newcastle and then continued her studies in the Bachelor of Dental Science degree at Charles Sturt University, where she graduated with distinction. She was recognized as Valedictorian of her graduate year and was awarded the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Prize.

Dr. Hollis enjoys and practices all areas of general dentistry; however, her interests lie in aesthetic and restorative dentistry. Dr. Hollis is an Invisalign provider and is currently studying a postgraduate diploma to further develop her knowledge and clinical skills (2024/25).

She is grateful each day for the opportunity to improve patients’ quality of life and endeavors through education to encourage patients of all ages to make informed decisions about their oral health.

Outside of the dental clinic, she enjoys staying active, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Dr Hywel Davies, B. Dental Science (CSU)

Associate Dentist

Dr Hywel Davies commenced at Orange Family Dental in January 2022.

Hywel studied at Charles Sturt University and attained the degree of Bachelor of Dental Science. He moved to Orange from Canberra to study and, together with his family, fell in love with the region. He has a calm and easy manner with his patients and finds satisfaction in helping them identify and achieve their treatment goals.

Dr Davies enjoys all facets of Dentistry and is committed to raising the level of dental awareness among his patients. He participates in community outreach projects focused on oral health education, believing that this is key to reducing the long-term need for dental interventions. Where there is a need for treatment, he is open with his patients, taking time to ensure that they understand their treatment options.

Outside the clinic, Dr Davies enjoys snow and water sports, gardening, motorcycle riding, and keeping busy with his two young boys and their German Shepherd, Rosie.

Dr Michael Franco, B. Dental Surgery (JCU)

Associate Dentist

Dr Michael joined the Orange Family Dental team in January 2023.  

Originally from Sydney, Dr Michael completed his Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Sydney before moving to Cairns to complete his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University.  After completing his studies, he moved to Brisbane and then Hobart. He decided to move back and settle in Orange to be closer to his and his wife’s family.  

Dr Michael enjoys all facets of dentistry but in particular he enjoys crown and bridge, restorative and oral surgery. 

Outside of dentistry Dr Michael enjoys motorsports, mountain biking and spending time with his wife and their dog, Miley.  

Dr Monisha Kumar, BOH USyd, BDSc (Hons) UQ

Associate Dentist

Dr Monisha joined the Orange Family Dental team in August 2024. She completed her Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Sydney where she was awarded the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler award recognising her skills while treating patients. She moved to Brisbane shortly after to completer her Bachelor of Dental Sciences degree at the University of Queensland, where she graduated with First Class Honors.

After practicing in Ipswich she moved to Hobart for a sea change before returning to Orange. Dr Monisha's family is based in Orange and the Blue Mountains, she is enjoying spending more time with her family.

Dr Monisha enjoys all facets of general dentistry and aims to make her appointments comfortable for her patients. She enjoys treating children, adults with gum disease and restoring function and aesthetics with fillings/crown and bridge. She takes a preventive approach to her clinical work to help patients to reduce their risk of gum disease and decay. 

At home Monisha's spends her time with her husband, son and dog, Miley. She enjoys cooking, reading and watching Netflix.

Teresa Mahlo, Bachelor of Oral Health and Hygiene, B.O.H

Oral Health Therapist

Teresa started at Orange Family Dental in 2023. 

Teresa was raised in Wagga Wagga, where she pursued her studies at Charles Sturt University, earning a degree in Psychology. During her final year, she met her husband, who was studying dentistry. After relocating to Orange with him, she worked as a counsellor for a year but soon realized it was not her calling. Consequently, she returned to Charles Sturt University to study Oral Health Therapy, where she received an exclusive Dean's Award for Academic Excellence in 2020. Teresa has now resided in Orange for nearly nine years and feels very much at home. 

Teresa has found immense joy in her role as an Oral Health Therapist. Her passion for working with young children and educating them on oral hygiene has only grown stronger over the years. With her warm and friendly demeanour, Teresa effortlessly makes each appointment a fun and educational experience for her young patients.

When Teresa is not at work she enjoys spending time with her two labradors, gardening, spending time with friends and family and playing touch football.
