Nervous Patients

At Orange Family Dental, we understand dental anxiety. We know that patients who suffer from this issue need extra reassurance. Our compassionate dentists and their likeminded team of professionals always work hard to make each patient feel relaxed and comfortable.

When you’re with us, you can count on kindness and patience, and for those who need a little extra reassurance, your dentist may prescribe medication to help you through your dental procedure. We also work with a sedation specialist for those who suffer extreme anxieties.

Causes of Dental Anxiety

In some cases, today’s anxiety is rooted in the past—a bad experience visiting the dentist in childhood, perhaps.

It may be that you have not visited the dentist in years and feel embarrassed by the state of your teeth and gums.

No matter the reasons, we are here to help. If your anxiety is rooted in a past experience, we want to replace that memory with a pleasant one. And you should never feel embarrassed; we know that fear keeps too many away from the dental clinic. We have experience with this.

Our goal is to change your perceptions and make our dental practice a welcoming place.

A Comfortable Atmosphere

We will provide you with a warm and comfortable atmosphere, and you will be in the hands of professionals concerned about your well-being. And we will always take the time to answer your questions before and after your dental treatment.

Treatment Performed under Conscious Sedation

Dr Melissa LicenblatFor those who require complex treatment or with severe anxiety, we never want fear to prevent you from getting the treatment you need. This is why we offer IV sedation periodically and can schedule your treatment on a day when our specialist is on hand.

IV sedation works by introducing sedation medication into your bloodstream via an intravenous catheter which is inserted into a vein, usually inside bend of your elbow or your hand.  The sedative puts you in a semi-concious state so you are unaware and unable to remember the events happening around you, although you can still respond to your dentist’s requests.

Dr Melissa Licenblat is a qualified Dentist and Sedationist who visits our practice in Orange every few months.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to learn more about dental sedation, feel free to contact us.
