Children's Teeth
At Orange Family Dental, we like to see children around the age of two or three. At this age it is unlikely that there any dental health issues present. It allows us time to show your child the dental instruments and familiarise them to the dental setting. This allows for a better long-term dental experience for your child.
All our Dental Practitioners are great with children, and our entire team takes the time to get to know your child and help him or her feel safe and cared for.
Early Dental Visits
Early dental check-ups are about gaining your child’s trust, and soon preventive dentistry is a natural part of his or her health and wellness.
Early appointments may include counting teeth, checking to make sure teeth are erupting properly, and talking to you about findings following your child’s dental exam.
Depending on the findings, your dentist may share nutritional information, practical hydration tips, or techniques to help you brush and floss your child’s teeth efficiently and effectively until he or she is old enough to care for their teeth independently.
Your child’s dental health is a partnership between you and the dentist, and we always make time to answer your questions and address your concerns when it comes to your child’s oral health.
Older Children
As your child grows, we provide age-appropriate dentistry. Before you know it, a fun ride in the dental chair becomes routine digital x-rays and teeth cleans.
Your child’s dentist may also recommend fissure sealants and fluoride treatments if your child is prone to cavities.
Before long, your child might need his or her first fissure sealant or dental filling. You can count on your child’s dentist to provide a filling that matches their smile—tooth-coloured and barely visible.
We also work closely with Orthodontics Exclusively if your child requires orthodontic treatment.
Custom-fitted Mouthguards for Your Child
Eventually, your child may decide to compete in contact sports. Ask your child’s dentist about a custom mouthguard. We can provide mouthguards in team colours or other fun shades to make your child want to protect his or her teeth.
Mouthguards are a practical way to guard against sports-related injuries. We use our 3D Trios scanner which only takes a few minutes to scan the entire mouth. The scan gets emailed to our lab partners who then make the mouthguard with a perfect fit.
If you have private heath insurance, check with your provider as some or all of the costs of a custom-fitted mouthguard may be covered
